Free verse poem about what it says in the title. 🦅
turkey buzzards sunbathing
beak tip a shark’s tooth
or an overgrown human cuspid
depending on the time of day
cantering too close to waves
scaring off the sandpipers
who jog and bob
the buzzards’ wings spread in supplication
begging for warmth
birds of death
not birds of paradise
their stain-black bodies
atop limestone dissolving into starry dust
naked blushing faces
Love it!
